Hello Dorking

Hello Dorking is the online face of the Dorking Business Improvement District (BID), supporting local shops, cafés, services and events in the historic market town of Dorking, Surrey. It’s a platform created to help residents and visitors find what’s happening locally, discover independent businesses, and see what makes the town unique.

When Hello Dorking approached Averma, the brand and website didn’t reflect the energy or character of the local business community. The branding felt outdated, the website wasn’t performing in search results and it wasn’t easy to navigate or update. Local businesses had limited visibility online, and key information such as events or business listings was hard for users to find. The BID team needed a digital partner who could handle everything from design to SEO to long-term content support.

We started with a full rebrand, working closely with the team to create a visual identity that felt more current and welcoming. The new logo and brand guidelines were designed to reflect the diversity and creativity of Dorking’s independent businesses, while giving the platform a consistent and recognisable look.

Next, we redesigned the website from the ground up. The new site was built in WordPress and designed to be responsive, easy to use and easy to manage by the BID team. We also created a fully searchable business directory, giving every local business its own page, and helping people find what they need faster.

Search engine performance was a major priority. At the time we began, the site was virtually invisible on Google. Within three months of launch, Hello Dorking ranked in the top 5 positions for all of its target key phrases. We continue to support SEO, monitor performance and make adjustments to maintain strong visibility.

We also produced a short video to showcase Dorking’s businesses, community feel and events. The project brought together branding, design, SEO and content into a complete platform that now helps Hello Dorking serve the community more effectively online. We still support Hello Dorking today with ongoing website maintenance, SEO and content updates.
