Carters Steam Fair

Technical Support and SEO Consultation

Carters Steam Fair was a beloved travelling vintage funfair in England, renowned for its beautifully restored fairground rides and attractions dating from the late 19th to the mid-20th centuries. Established in 1977 by John Carter, the fair became a much-loved part of British culture, bringing traditional fairground experiences to families across the UK. Operating from its base near Maidenhead, Berkshire, Carters Steam Fair built a loyal following and toured extensively until its final event at Prospect Park, Reading, in October 2022.

Before the tour ended, Carters approached Averma for technical consultation and digital support. They were experiencing issues with their WordPress site, and our role was to improve the platform’s reliability and performance while offering broader advice to support their marketing and operations.

We started with a comprehensive technical audit of their WordPress site. The backend system had grown bloated over time, affecting both site speed and stability. We debugged core elements of the site, cleaned up the backend and optimised the database to improve load times, reduce errors, and ensure a smoother experience for users and the internal team managing updates.

Alongside the technical work, we also provided practical guidance on how to maintain the site long-term, including advice on security best practices, plugin use, and general performance optimisation. Our consultation ensured the team could confidently manage their platform going forward without unnecessary dependencies or complexity.

Search engine performance was another area where Carters needed support. We offered tailored SEO consultation to help improve their organic visibility, offering direction on how to structure content, update metadata, and implement changes that would help bring more traffic to their site from relevant search queries.

With our main hub in Horley, Surrey, and additional locations in Peckham and Hampstead, London, Averma works with businesses of all sizes to improve the performance, visibility and manageability of their websites. Whether for long-term development or a one-off consultation, we’re proud to have supported a name as well-known and culturally significant as Carters Steam Fair.
