Hello Dorking is Dorking’s Business Improvement District (BID), promoting shops, cafés, services and events in the market town of Dorking, Surrey. The platform showcases the area, highlights independent businesses and gives residents and visitors a single hub for what’s happening in town. When Averma began working with Hello Dorking, the branding no longer represented the energy of the community. The website had poor visibility in search, was difficult to navigate and hard for the BID team to manage. Local businesses were not getting the online exposure they needed, so the BID required a partner to deliver design, SEO and long-term support.

We began with a rebrand, developing a new identity that was modern and welcoming. The logo and guidelines gave the platform a stronger presence and reflected the creativity of the town’s businesses.

The website was rebuilt in WordPress with usability at the centre. It was designed to work across desktop, tablet and mobile, and structured so the BID team could update content without difficulty. A searchable directory was added, giving each business its own page and making information easier to find.

Search performance was a core focus. At the start, the site was absent from Google results. Within three months of launch, Hello Dorking ranked in the top five positions for its main phrases. Ongoing SEO support continues to strengthen visibility.

The project brought branding, design, SEO and content together into one complete platform. Alongside the website, we produced a video that highlighted Dorking’s community and businesses, giving another way for people to engage with the town. The new site is easier to use, performs better in search and gives the BID team flexibility to grow content over time. It also provides local businesses with a dedicated online presence, helping them reach wider audiences and supporting the goal of making Dorking a thriving destination.
